I know I'm always stretching when I come up with names for text effects but we'll just call this one Funky Marshmallow! Actually, it kind of reminds me of a cross between the Michelin Man and Oreo cookies - I have a feeling that's just me though. Oh well, there's a lot of steps to this one, or at least a lot of Filters, so I thought it would be easier to just provide the PNG file for you to download.
The plastic text effect is still irresistible to all web designers and I'm sure there are a gazillion tutorials out there for such but here's gazillion and one! This is an updated tutorial for Fireworks since this effect uses several Photoshop Live Filters first introduced in Fireworks CS3.
As usual, half the text effects I come up with are created completely by accident while trying to create a different effect. This is one of those times! This text effect gives the illusion of snow drifted upon some text.
It's been a while since I've created some new text effects with Fireworks. Since Fireworks 8 is out I thought it would be a good idea to use the new Solid Shadow Filter to create a fun 3D-ish effect!
Ok, if you've been around this site for anytime, you probably know that
I am a history major so anything that has to do with the ancient world
always catches my eye. This time around, I was inspired by the legend
of Atlantis. There's actually three parts to this tutorial. The first
part deals with creating the stone, the second part the "Atlantis"
text, and lastly the "The Lost Continent" text which is an engraved
effect.
Well, I was busy studying for my history class, we're focusing upon the
Middle Ages right now, and I came across a common symbol of this time
period - the Crusaders Shield. I thought it would make a great lesson
for learning how to create shapes using the Reshape Area tool.
