Welcome to the VirtualClues attic filled with dusty old tutorials of yesteryear. For the latest tutorials and articles visit the Movie Library or the Blog.
As usual, half the text effects I come up with are created completely by accident while trying to create a different effect. This is one of those times! This text effect gives the illusion of snow drifted upon some text.
It's been a while since I've created some new text effects with Fireworks. Since Fireworks 8 is out I thought it would be a good idea to use the new Solid Shadow Filter to create a fun 3D-ish effect!
Displaying dynamic text loaded from a text file into Flash 8 or earlier is a fairly simple task. The ActionScript that makes this all possible is the "loadVariables" function.
I think the two most popular text
effect tutorials for any design program is how to create plastic or
chrome looking text. Well, in this tutorial for Illustrator CS2, we'll
be tackling the first mentioned - plastic text!
Typing on a path in Illustrator is a
simple procedure. The first thing to do is to draw out the path that
the text will be attached to. You can use the Pencil Tool or the Pen
Tool to create the path. The color and stroke size doesn't matter since
it will become invisible once the text is attached to it.
Creating custom cursors in Flash is
as easy as writing two lines of code. In this example, we'll be making
a custom cursor to act as a spotlight on the image underneath it.
A
widely used effect in Flash is a page curl animation. When the mouse
is
rolled over the button it looks as though the corner of the picture
(or
page) is curling up.
